The Federal Government has called on striking health workers, particularly nurses, to suspend their ongoing strike and return to the negotiation table, assuring that all grievances can be resolved through dialogue.
Health Minister Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate made the appeal on Wednesday while addressing journalists after the Federal Executive Council meeting chaired by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Pate confirmed that the government has reviewed the issues behind the strike and has already taken steps to address the concerns raised by the health workers.
He said a meeting has been scheduled with the leadership of the nurses and doctors on Friday to find a lasting solution.
The Minister also announced the approval of a new Oncology Centre at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, describing it as part of the Tinubu administration’s broader efforts to transform the health sector.
