The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has denied circulating a list of state chairmen and raised the alarm over fraudulent online registration platforms misusing the party’s name.

In a statement issued Thursday, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary and spokesperson for the coalition of opposition political parties, said the ADC had no knowledge of the viral list posted on social media and described it as completely false.

The controversial post, which appeared on a verified X (formerly Twitter) account, claimed to unveil names of newly appointed state chairmen in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. However, the list lacked any official signatory or authentication.

Abdullahi insisted the ADC had not made such appointments and urged Nigerians to ignore the announcement. He advised the public to verify any information about the party only through his official X handle, @BolajiADC.
In addition to debunking the list, the ADC also warned against online scams in which fake platforms are collecting money from people under the pretense of registering them as party members. The party condemned the move and cautioned citizens not to fall for such schemes.
“The party urges Nigerians to consult only verified and official channels for all ADC-related matters,” the statement said.
The warning comes as political activity intensifies across Nigeria ahead of the 2027 elections, with the ADC playing a leading role in a new opposition coalition seeking to counter the ruling APC’s dominance.
