Former Senate President David Mark has officially left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a party he helped establish and remained loyal to for years.

His exit was confirmed in a letter dated June 27, where he explained that the decision became necessary due to the ongoing leadership crisis in the party.

Mark pointed out that the PDP is no longer what it used to be, saying its internal problems and constant conflicts have weakened it and made it difficult for many loyal members to continue.

According to him, these problems have caused confusion and made the party less respected among Nigerians.
His resignation comes shortly after he was named one of the interim leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which is being supported by a coalition of opposition figures working together to challenge the current political structure.
Mark said he had stayed with the PDP through difficult times, especially after the party lost power in 2015, and had worked hard to rebuild it.
But despite his efforts, the party continued to struggle with unity and direction.
After speaking with his family and close allies, he said he decided to move on and join a new group focused on protecting Nigeria’s democracy and finding better ways to serve the country.
