Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the immediate dissolution of boards, commissions and parastatals across the state, alongside the termination of the appointments of several political appointees.

The governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, disclosed this in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Sunday.

The affected political appointees include Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants and Technical Assistants to the governor.
Oyebode said the decision was linked to the conclusion of Oyebanji’s first term and preparations for the inauguration of his second term, scheduled for October 16, 2026.
However, the dissolution does not affect the chairmen and members of certain statutory commissions. These include the State Independent Electoral Commission, Civil Service Commission, House of Assembly Service Commission and Judicial Service Commission.

The governing councils of all state-owned tertiary institutions will also remain in place, in accordance with previous directives from the governor.
The chairmen of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Local Government Service Commission and Teaching Service Commission will also remain in office, although the boards under them have been dissolved.
Directors-General and Technical Advisers to the governor are equally excluded from the termination of appointments.
Oyebanji thanked the affected political appointees for their contributions to his administration and their service to Ekiti State.
