Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, has cancelled the MCB 414 examination taken by final-year students of the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Life Sciences, following an alleged violation of its directive banning wild jubilation after examinations.

The examination, titled Anti-Microbial Agents and Chemotherapy, was cancelled on Friday, September 18, 2026, two days after the university management warned students against excessive celebrations linked to the completion of their final examinations.

The warning was issued by the university Registrar, Mrs Oluwayomi O. Agbebaku, in a statement dated September 16 and addressed to deans, heads of departments and students.
The university said students were prohibited from engaging in wild celebrations both within and outside the campus, particularly activities that could result in unlawful or disruptive behaviour.

Following the cancellation of the Microbiology examination, Agbebaku said the affected students had been reminded of the directive before writing the paper but allegedly went ahead with prohibited celebrations after completing the examination.
The university management said the cancellation was intended to discourage other students from disregarding the directive and warned that departments found violating the order in future could face tougher sanctions.
The prohibited activities include vehicle, motorcycle and bicycle parades, throwing water, sand or drinks, alcohol consumption, shouting, hooting, dancing and other forms of celebration considered capable of leading to disorder or criminal activities.
The university also banned motorcades around the Administrative Building and directed students to use the designated car park outside the university gate to ease movement into the campus.
Management advised students to reserve their celebrations for the university’s next convocation ceremony, where graduating students would be formally recognised.
