INEC Sets September 19 for By-elections in Four States

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed September 19, 2026, to conduct five by-elections across four states.

The elections will take place in Gombe, Kano, Bauchi and Delta states and will cover one federal constituency and four state constituencies.

INEC’s Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Tunde Oketola, disclosed the date in Abuja on Tuesday.

According to him, the federal constituency election will hold in the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency of Gombe State.

The four state constituency elections will be conducted in Disina and Sakwa constituencies in Bauchi State, Udu Constituency in Delta State and Dawakin Kudu Constituency in Kano State.

The September 19 exercise will therefore involve five separate legislative by-elections across the four states.

INEC is expected to conduct the elections in accordance with its electoral guidelines and the timetable for the affected constituencies.
