The exercise covered all 16 local government areas of the state. Oyebanji said the outcome showed strong backing from the electorate.

The governor said he recorded what he described as a clean sweep across the state. He also claimed to have secured about 85 per cent of the total votes cast.

Results showed he led in most polling units and maintained a wide margin over his rivals. The trend continued across both urban and rural areas.

Oyebanji noted that the outcome reflects trust in his leadership and the direction of his administration. He thanked residents for turning out in large numbers to vote.

He also said the result placed a duty on his government to continue service delivery across the state. He called for unity among residents after the election.

According to INEC figures, Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress polled 319,224 votes. His closest rival, Olumayokun Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party, scored 40,533 votes.

Dare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress recorded 12,872 votes. The result confirmed a decisive win for the governor.
