Bello Turji Report Triggers New Alarm on Security

Fresh security concerns have surfaced in eastern Sokoto State following reports that fighters linked to notorious bandit leader Bello Turji are allegedly undergoing weapons training in communities near the Sokoto-Zamfara border.

The claims were contained in an intelligence report released by the Movement for Social Justice and Good Governance.

The report alleged that the training activities are taking place across communities stretching from Bingabale Kudu through Bafarawa East to Bargaja.

It further claimed that some of Turji’s close associates, including Illa Manawa and Dodo, believed to be his younger brother, are involved in the exercise and are training fighters with newly acquired weapons.

According to the group, intelligence gathered points to the arrival of fresh arms and newly recruited fighters said to have connections with insurgent groups.

The report also alleged that some of the recruits possess advanced combat skills and were brought in to strengthen operations across border communities in Sokoto and Zamfara states.

The organisation warned that the reported alliance among armed groups could pose a threat to communities in the region and urged security agencies to step up surveillance and verify the claims.

As of the time of filing the report, security authorities had not issued any official response, while the allegations remained independently unverified.
