Umahi Hails Tinubu On South East Road Revival

Minister of Works David Umahi says the Federal Government is reviving major road projects in the South-East that were conceived decades ago but never completed.

He credited the renewed construction efforts to the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the projects as key to improving regional connectivity and economic growth.

Speaking during an inspection of federal projects in Ebonyi State, Umahi pointed to the Calabar–Ebonyi–Benue Trans-Saharan Superhighway as one of the administration’s major infrastructure projects.

He said work is progressing on different sections of the road, which is expected to link communities and boost trade across the South-East, South-South and North-Central regions.

The minister explained that the highway would serve as an economic corridor for agricultural products, helping farmers and businesses move goods more efficiently.

He also noted that the use of concrete road technology has allowed construction work to continue despite the rainy season.

During the tour, officials inspected bridges, road sections and the Onueke Flyover project in Ebonyi.

Governor Francis Nwifuru praised the ongoing projects, while Umahi disclosed that South-East leaders would gather in Abakaliki to endorse Tinubu’s second-term bid and discuss development efforts in the region.
