More than six aspirants are reportedly contesting for the APC governorship ticket in the state currently led by Bala Mohammed.

Some party stakeholders are said to be pushing for direct primaries instead of a consensus arrangement to allow members decide the candidate.

One of the aspirants, Nura Manu, openly rejected talks of stepping down for any candidate after appearing before the APC screening panel in Abuja.

He said he remained fully in the race and was confident of victory if direct primaries were adopted.

Manu also promised to focus on agriculture and small businesses if elected governor, revealing plans for a N100 billion development fund aimed at supporting economic activities and improving livelihoods across the state.
