Lagos Shuts Eko Bridge Lane
The Lagos State Government has announced the indefinite closure of the outbound lane of Eko Bridge leading to Lagos Island for emergency repair works and safety checks.
The closure will begin on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.
The state Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said the decision was taken to allow engineers carry out investigations and repairs on the bridge.
He added that the inward lane towards Lagos Island would remain open to traffic.
Motorists travelling through Apongbon and Ijora Olopa have been advised to use the Third Mainland Bridge as an alternative route during the closure.
Traffic diversions are expected across several parts of the city.
The government also said traffic officials and security personnel would be deployed around affected areas to manage movement and reduce congestion while the repair works continue.
