APC Screening Starts Without Key Governors
Three serving governors were absent on Saturday as the All Progressives Congress began screening incumbent governors ahead of the 2027 general election.
Those missing included Siminalayi Fubara, Francis Nwifuru and Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.
The exercise forms part of the party’s preparations for the next election cycle as governors seeking another term undergo internal assessment.
The screening is being handled by a committee led by APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, with Surajudeen Basiru serving as secretary.
Party officials did not immediately explain why the three governors failed to appear at the screening venue.
Other governors and aspirants reportedly attended the exercise as the party moved forward with its preparations for the 2027 polls.
The APC is expected to continue its screening process in the coming days before moving into the next phase of its primary election activities ahead of the nationwide elections.
