Witnesses said the assailants fired heavily and took control of the area, turning it into what locals now describe as a ghost town.

Several people were injured during the attack, with victims said to be without proper medical care as they remain displaced.

The violence is linked to a leadership dispute within the community, with tensions over the youth leadership position believed to have sparked the crisis.

Residents also accused security agencies of failing to act despite earlier warnings.

Police authorities were yet to give a full response, though a source within the command said the situation is under observation.

Meanwhile, displaced villagers continue to stay in the forest as fear grips the area.
