He insists the assets were wrongly linked to crime and should be returned.

The dispute centres on properties listed under a January 2026 court order obtained by the EFCC. The agency claimed the assets may have been acquired through illegal funds.

Malami, however, maintains that the properties came from years of legal work, business investments and declared income.

He told the court that there is no solid proof connecting any of the properties to criminal activity.

He also argued that the EFCC overstated the value of the assets, saying independent assessments show much lower figures than those presented by the agency.

Malami further accused the commission of acting outside legal procedure during the seizure process.

The case now before the Federal High Court in Abuja will decide whether the properties remain forfeited or are released back to him as both sides await a final ruling.
