Adelabu Clears Air On Tinubu Support Claims
In Ibadan on Thursday, former power minister Bayo Adelabu said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has not endorsed any candidate for the 2027 governorship race in Oyo State.
He spoke shortly after returning to the state following his resignation. The remarks come amid growing speculation within the ruling party.
Adelabu dismissed claims that the president had chosen a preferred aspirant. He insisted there is no official backing for any contender at this stage.
According to him, the process remains open within the All Progressives Congress. He maintained that party members should focus on fair competition.
He also described himself as politically aligned with Tinubu but made it clear that no endorsement has been given.
The statement is seen as an attempt to calm tension among aspirants. Interest in the Oyo governorship race has continued to grow. Several hopefuls are positioning ahead of the primaries.
The development adds to early political activity ahead of 2027. Party members are expected to follow internal processes to select candidates.
Attention now shifts to how the APC will manage its primaries in the state. The contest is likely to attract strong interest in the coming months.
