Some political associates and former allies of immediate past Kaduna State Governor Nasiru El-Rufai have returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and declared support for Governor Uba Sani ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Those said to have joined the Uba Sani political camp include Bashir Saidu, a former Chief of Staff to El-Rufai, and Abdu Kwari, a former commissioner in the state and former senator.

Also involved in the realignment is Nasir Abdullahi Maikano, a former Kaduna State chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and three-term member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, where he represented Ungwan Sanusi Constituency.
Moukhtar Isa Hazo, a former Deputy Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, was also listed among those backing the incumbent governor, alongside other grassroots politicians from different parts of the state.

The development comes as political activities and realignments gather pace in Kaduna ahead of the 2027 elections. The movement of politicians previously associated with El-Rufai’s political camp could strengthen Sani’s influence within the APC as the election approaches.
The politicians have at different times played roles within El-Rufai’s political structure, making their decision to align with the incumbent governor notable amid growing competition among political groups in the state.
A former Kaduna State commissioner, Jafaru Ibrahim Sani, confirmed the development, saying the politicians had decided to move together in support of the new political alignment.
The latest movement is expected to generate further political discussions in Kaduna as politicians and supporters reposition ahead of the 2027 elections.
It could also alter the balance of influence among the various political camps operating within the APC and other parties in the state.
