Saudi Arabia Seeks FCT Partnership
Saudi Arabia is seeking closer ties with Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory in areas such as security, economic growth and green city development.
The proposal was made during a visit by Ambassador Yousef bin Mohammed Al-Balawi to Abuja. The move signals efforts to deepen cooperation between both sides.
The envoy praised ongoing development in the capital and expressed interest in sharing ideas on urban planning.
He also pointed to the need for stronger links between Abuja and Riyadh, along with other major cities.
The visit focused on building practical partnerships that benefit both regions.
Responding, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike welcomed the proposal and said the territory is open to collaboration.
He noted that Nigeria already enjoys a strong relationship with Saudi Arabia. According to him, both sides can exchange knowledge and work together on key projects.
The minister added that ongoing reforms under Bola Tinubu are aimed at transforming Abuja into a modern city.
He said the government plans to build on existing ties to improve infrastructure and attract global attention. The partnership is expected to support long-term development in the capital.
