Tinubu Is Actively Weakening Opposition – Tambuwal
Former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of working to weaken opposition parties ahead of the 2027 elections.
He made the claim while addressing journalists after a party event in Sokoto.
He said the current political climate suggests a push toward one-party dominance, alleging that opposition groups are facing internal pressure and instability.
He pointed to ongoing crises within parties like the PDP and Labour Party as signs of deeper political interference.
Tambuwal also linked recent defections to the ruling All Progressives Congress to fear and survival, arguing that some politicians are moving not by choice but due to pressure.
He described the coming election as a contest between the government and the people.
However, the Presidency and the APC rejected the claims, insisting there is no plan to undermine rival parties.
Officials said opposition challenges are internal, while electoral authorities maintained that Nigeria remains a multi-party democracy.
