Shettima Joins Celebration Of Eid At Maiduguri
Kashim Shettima joined Muslim faithful in Maiduguri for Eid prayers as the city marked the end of Ramadan under heavy security.
The celebration went ahead peacefully despite recent attacks that had raised fears among residents.
Security presence was strong across major Eid grounds, with authorities placing restrictions on tricycle movement during the morning hours.
However, some riders resumed operations shortly after prayers, moving through key roads in the city.
At Ramat Square, the vice president prayed alongside Babagana Zulum and other top officials.
He called for continued prayers for peace, unity, and national progress, while restating the government’s duty to protect lives and property.
The prayer session, led by Shettima Saleh, also reminded worshippers of their religious duties and the need to uphold values like discipline, generosity, and unity after Ramadan.
The imam encouraged acts of charity and voluntary fasting to sustain the spiritual gains of the season.
