A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, has indicated he may contest the Zamfara governorship election in 2027.

Speaking in Gusau to members of the Wamban Shinkafi Movement for Democratic Front, Shinkafi said he would soon meet with political associates to decide whether to run in the party’s primary or support Dauda Lawal for a second term.

He explained that the decision would come after members of his political movement complete the revalidation of their party e-registration.

Shinkafi also expressed support for Governor Lawal’s recent move to the APC, describing it as a historic step that would benefit the people of Zamfara.
The APC chieftain further pledged support for the second-term ambition of Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
He criticised the leadership style of former Zamfara governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle, accusing him of dominating the party structure while he was in power.
Shinkafi also praised Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar for what he described as strong leadership within the party.
