Wike Receives Mpigi Body In Abuja
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Monday morning received the remains of Senator Barinada Mpigi at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

Wike arrived at the airport around 5:30am alongside other political leaders to welcome the late lawmaker’s body and his family.
The senator’s wife, Patricia Obiageri Mpigi, and his children were also received on arrival.
Those present included Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Board of Trustees, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa; Senators Philip Aduda, Magnus Abe, Allwell Onyesoh and Olaka Nwogu; House of Representatives Minority Leader, Kingsley Chinda; Rivers State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Ambassador Desmond Akawor; and APC National Vice Chairman (South South), Victor Giadom.
Senator Mpigi, who represented Rivers South-East, died in London on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at the age of 64.
Wike had earlier travelled to London last week to visit the senator’s wife and children following his death.
During the visit, he met with the family and helped facilitate the return of the remains to Nigeria.
