PDP Wins In Gwagwalada Election
The Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Mohammed Kasim, has been declared winner of the Gwagwalada Area Council chairmanship election in the Federal Capital Territory.
The result was announced on Sunday morning after collation was completed.
Philip Akpen, the returning officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission, confirmed that Kasim secured the highest number of valid votes cast in the council.
The exercise formed part of the wider FCT polls held on Saturday.
While the PDP celebrated its victory in Gwagwalada, the All Progressives Congress clinched the Abuja Municipal Area Council seat, tightening its hold in the capital. The outcomes reflect a split result across key councils.
The elections were conducted across the six Area Councils in the territory, with results gradually emerging as officials wrapped up the collation process.
