Ganduje Fires Back At El Rufai Claims

Former Kano governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has dismissed claims by ex-Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai linking him to the disappearance of activist Abubakar Idris, known as Dadiyata.

The response followed remarks made during a television interview.

In a statement issued by Comrade Muhammad Garba, a former Kano information commissioner, the allegations were described as reckless, unfounded, and a clear attempt to shift responsibility for an incident that occurred in Kaduna State.

The statement maintained that Dadiyata lived and worked in Kaduna, where security oversight rested with the state government and federal agencies.

Garba argued that any confession allegedly tying Kano to the case should have been presented to security authorities, insisting that serious accusations must be backed by verifiable evidence — not political rhetoric.

He said linking Ganduje to events outside Kano was misleading and politically driven.

Dadiyata was taken from his Kaduna home on August 2, 2019, and his whereabouts remain unknown.
