Wike Issues Chilling Political Warning

Political leaders across Nigeria were put on notice on Saturday as the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, cautioned governors, ministers and lawmakers against backing people he described as betrayers.

He spoke in Port Harcourt during the unveiling of the Rivers State Renewed Hope Ambassadors headquarters, where he addressed a mixed crowd of political figures and supporters.

Wike said loyalty in politics is not optional, warning that those who stand with disloyal allies would eventually suffer the same fate.

He stressed that betrayal has a way of returning to its supporters, insisting that anyone who encourages it should be prepared to face the consequences both in public office and private life.

He repeated the message more firmly, saying leaders who align themselves with unfaithful allies are setting traps for their own future.

According to him, betrayal does not end with one incident but follows its supporters wherever they go.

The former Rivers governor added that the danger is even greater for those seeking re-election or planning to hand power to successors.

He warned that backing disloyal figures would destroy such plans, claiming the consequences would surface once a successor takes over.

“Every governor who is doing a second term, who has ambition to put a successor, and is supporting betrayal, you will never survive it.

Betrayal will follow you from the day your successor comes in,” he said, adding, “That is what the gods of the land have told me to tell all of you. And what I tell you is the truth.”
