The Federal Government has praised the Super Eagles for their strong showing at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations despite losing in the semi-final.

Nigeria bowed out on Wednesday after Morocco defeated the team on penalties to book a place in the final.
The commendation was given on Thursday by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, who said the players showed discipline, unity and mental strength throughout the tournament.
The government said the team’s effort on the pitch reflected national values and earned the respect of Nigerians both at home and abroad, even though the campaign ended short of the final.

It added that the Super Eagles carried the nation’s colours with pride and reminded citizens that football is also about courage, teamwork and perseverance beyond winning trophies.
Meanwhile, BUA Group Chairman Abdul Samad Rabiu confirmed he will still donate 500,000 dollars to the team despite the loss. The Super Eagles will now face Egypt in the third-place match on Saturday.
