Wike Warns APC Secretary Over Rivers Affairs

The warning was issued during Wike’s thank you visit to Oyigbo Local Government Area, where he reacted to recent comments linked to internal disputes involving Rivers politics and party officials.

The situation followed remarks made by the APC National Vice Chairman for the South South, Victor Giadom, who had publicly dismissed Governor Siminalayi Fubara and suggested that political success in Rivers depended on Wike’s backing.
Wike responded by directing Giadom to relay a message to the APC national leadership, stressing that Rivers people should not be taken for granted, especially after their support for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 elections.

He said attempts by politicians to interfere because of perceived financial strength in the state would fail, noting that Rivers stood firm for Tinubu when support was uncertain elsewhere and did so by choice, not pressure.
Wike thanked residents of Oyigbo for their loyalty and support, while local leaders praised his past leadership and assured him of continued backing, saying development slowed after his exit as governor and expressing hope for renewed progress ahead.
