The African Democratic Congress has named Adamu Usman Tubo as chairman and Sunusi Lawan Badawi as secretary of its Borno State Transitional Committee as preparations begin for the 2027 general elections.
The decision was made following recent alignments and defections from major political parties into the ADC as part of a coalition drive to strengthen the party in the state.
The announcement came through a circular issued in Abuja and signed by Mohammed Abba Kyari, who oversees organising duties for the party in the North East and at the national level.
Tubo comes from the Southern Borno Senatorial District, while Badawi represents Borno North, a move the party said was designed to ensure balance and broad representation across the state.
The committee also includes several well-known political figures drawn from the APC, PDP, LP, SDP and NNPP, including former lawmakers, ex-speakers of the state assembly, past governorship and senatorial aspirants, and youth leaders.
ADC leaders said the transitional committee was carefully selected based on political experience, local government spread and senatorial districts, with the aim of repositioning the party ahead of the 2027 polls.
