The clarification came on Tuesday after reports circulated suggesting that Ahmed had publicly reacted to the claims linked to a petition before an anti-graft agency.

The denial was conveyed through the authority’s Director of Public Affairs, George Ene-Ita, who said the statement attributed to the NMDPRA boss did not come from him.

Ahmed explained that he has chosen to stay silent in public due to the sensitive role he occupies in the petroleum sector, despite the attention the allegations have drawn.

He said the matter is now before a formal investigative body, which he believes is the proper channel to review the claims calmly and fairly.

The NMDPRA chief added that he is confident the investigation will clear the issues and allow the truth to emerge through due process.
