Aliko Dangote has asked the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission to move against the head of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority over alleged corruption.

The petition was submitted on December 16 through his lawyer, Ogwu Onoja, and calls for the arrest and investigation of NMDPRA chief Ahmed Farouk for allegedly living beyond his lawful income as a public officer.

Dangote alleged that Farouk spent more than seven million dollars on the education of his four children in Switzerland, an amount he claimed could not be explained by the official’s earnings from years in public service.

He further accused the NMDPRA boss of abusing his position to divert public funds for private use, actions he said have triggered public anger and protests against the regulator.
According to the petition, detailed information about the schools, payments and beneficiaries was provided to help investigators verify the claims and determine whether public funds were misused.
Dangote urged the ICPC to act swiftly, saying a thorough probe and prosecution where necessary would strengthen accountability, restore public trust and protect the image of the current administration.
