Governor Eno Rejects Claim Linking Him To Biafra Day

Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno has denied online reports claiming he is backing a Biafra Remembrance Day declaration.

The governor, speaking through the state’s Commissioner for Information, Aniekan Umanah, said the claim was fabricated and meant to stir unnecessary tension.

The governor reacted after social media posts suggested he was preparing to endorse the remembrance day. He said the story had no basis and warned residents to ignore it completely. According to the state government, no agitation or demand exists in Akwa Ibom to support such a move.

Officials stressed that the state remains part of a united Nigeria and continues to work under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu. They insisted that the government has never discussed or considered any declaration tied to Biafra.

The state also cautioned those spreading false stories aimed at disturbing the peace. It said it is ready to act against individuals or groups who push misinformation that could mislead the public or threaten harmony.

Akwa Ibom authorities restated their commitment to keeping the state safe and stable, urging residents to remain calm and avoid being swayed by online falsehoods.
