Osun APC Taunts Adeleke Over Move To Accord

The All Progressives Congress in Osun State has reacted to Governor Ademola Adeleke’s switch from the Peoples Democratic Party to the Accord Party, calling it a desperate attempt to escape defeat in the next governorship election.

The party made its position known shortly after Adeleke confirmed his new political home amid tension within the PDP.

The development began when Adeleke officially left the PDP about a week ago and later presented himself to supporters at the Government House in Osogbo as a new Accord Party member. His decision followed weeks of internal disputes at the national level, creating uncertainty around his future in the party that brought him to office.

The APC argued that Adeleke’s departure was driven by personal motives rather than a plan to fix the troubles within the PDP. Party leaders said a committed governor would have worked to resolve the crisis instead of walking away. They insisted that his move reflects political fatigue rather than strength.

The party also claimed that the governor had reached out to other parties before joining Accord. According to the APC, Adeleke’s struggle to secure acceptance elsewhere showed fading support across the political landscape. They portrayed Accord as a party with limited national presence and said his new platform would not alter his chances in the coming election.

Beyond the political drama, the APC used the moment to criticise Adeleke’s leadership. They accused him of poor governance, arguing that his policies have slowed development in the state. Party officials said his performance over the past three years has failed to meet the expectations of residents who hoped for faster growth.

The APC maintained that Adeleke’s political future remains uncertain despite his move to Accord. They predicted that voters at home and abroad are ready for change by next year and insisted that the governor’s latest decision only makes their campaign easier.
