While addressing journalists shortly after voting, the governor accused one of the opposition candidates of allegedly engaging in vote buying. He claimed that agents of the candidate were attempting to influence voters at his polling unit.

Election observers at the scene noted that security presence was visible but not disruptive, as officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission continued with the exercise without major incident.

The Anambra governorship election has drawn wide attention as 16 candidates battle for control of the state, with Governor Soludo seeking re-election under the All Progressives Grand Alliance. Voting continued across the 21 local government areas as residents turned out in various polling centres across the state.
