Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has dismissed reports claiming he has dumped the Labour Party (LP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement on Tuesday, the state’s Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, described the rumour as false and politically motivated, saying it was spread by those unsettled by the governor’s growing popularity and performance.

Kanu said Otti remains a proud and loyal member of the Labour Party, adding that his focus is on rebuilding Abia, restoring accountability, and delivering good governance.
He recalled that during last week’s edition of “Governor Alex Otti Speaks to Abians,” the governor made it clear that his priority is service to humanity, not political manoeuvres or defections.
Kanu noted that Otti’s administration continues to promote transparency, fiscal discipline, infrastructure renewal, economic growth, and youth empowerment — values consistent with the Labour Party’s principles.
He urged the public to ignore the false report, insisting that the governor remains committed to building a just and equitable Abia under the Labour Party.
