Chinasa Tells Abia Politicians To Drop Plans Against Otti In 2027

Abia State Liaison Officer at the National Assembly, Chief Iheanyi Chinasa, has cautioned politicians preparing to challenge Governor Alex Otti in the 2027 election to reconsider their ambitions, saying the governor has proven capable of defeating any opponent.

In a statement released in Umuahia, Chinasa said Otti’s record of performance and leadership has placed him far ahead of any political rival. His warning came after remarks by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, during the commissioning of the reconstructed Port Harcourt Road in Aba.

Kalu had commended President Bola Tinubu for providing funds to states through increased federal allocations following fuel subsidy removal but did not acknowledge Otti’s efforts in executing projects in Abia. He urged Abians to publicly credit the President for supporting the state’s development.

Reacting, Chinasa accused the Deputy Speaker of trying to play politics with development achievements in Abia. He described Kalu’s comments as an attempt to portray the state as ungrateful despite the governor’s transparent use of federal allocations.

Chinasa stressed that the funds used for projects were part of federal revenue shared among all states, making Abia a rightful beneficiary, not a passive recipient of presidential generosity. He noted that while the state appreciates the President’s fiscal support, credit must also go to Governor Otti for effective management and visible delivery of results.

The former Labour Party House of Representatives candidate said Otti’s leadership has brought stability and tangible progress to Abia, restoring public confidence in governance. He added that the governor’s performance record makes any attempt to unseat him in 2027 an exercise in futility.

According to him, the focus should remain on continuity, accountability, and sustained development rather than political grandstanding ahead of the next election.
