Marafa, who represented Zamfara Central in the Senate from 2011 to 2019, made the pledge during a television appearance on Monday. He recently resigned from the APC along with his loyalists, citing disappointment with the ruling party and Tinubu’s leadership style.

The former lawmaker, who coordinated Tinubu’s 2023 campaign in Zamfara State, accused the President of abandoning campaign promises and practicing what he described as a use-and-dump style of politics. He alleged that Tinubu failed to reform the APC’s reward system, which he said had frustrated party members during the Buhari administration.

Marafa dismissed suggestions that he has become politically irrelevant, insisting that the 2027 election will determine his influence. He said discontent with the APC in Zamfara had brought together major political figures in the state against the party.

He pointed to the 2023 election victory of Governor Dauda Lawal, who defeated several established politicians despite his limited political background, as evidence of the electorate’s rejection of the APC.

Marafa’s defection adds to growing cracks within the APC as the ruling party faces rising opposition and internal dissatisfaction ahead of the 2027 polls.
