Speaking to journalists in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Okocha revealed that the APC is also reaching out to other influential politicians in the state, including members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, to strengthen the party ahead of future elections.

He explained that the APC secured victories in 20 out of 23 local government areas in the recently concluded council elections but did not field candidates in Obio/Akpor, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni, and Port Harcourt City. According to him, the decision was based on the party’s weak chances in those areas.

Okocha confirmed that some former members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who contested the council elections under the APC platform had fully defected, even though their move was not publicly announced.

The party chairman expressed gratitude to APC stakeholders and voters in the state for their role in delivering victory at the polls. He also praised President Bola Tinubu and the National Working Committee for reviving the Rivers APC, describing the election outcome as a breakthrough for the party.

Looking ahead to 2027, Okocha expressed confidence that the APC in Rivers State will expand its support base and work towards securing a stronger mandate for President Tinubu’s re-election.
