The Federal Government has approved Air Tanzania Company Limited to operate direct flights between Nigeria and Tanzania after issuing the airline a Foreign Carrier Operation Permit.

The permit was handed over at the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development headquarters in Abuja. The ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, represented by Ahmed Mohammed, said the move will boost efficiency, improve safety, and strengthen aviation ties between the two countries.

Kana explained that the permit will standardize procedures and ensure smooth cooperation between aviation stakeholders in line with global standards. He added that the step fits into President Bola Tinubu’s plan to promote regional integration and assured the airline of Nigeria’s readiness to support its operations.

The airline has also requested office space at Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos and residence permits for its staff as it prepares to launch the new route.
