Obidient Leader Warns Of Plot To Sideline Peter Obi Ahead Of 2027

A prominent figure in the Obidient Movement, Dr. Ezeh Emmanuel Ezeh, has raised alarm over alleged moves to sideline Labour Party leader Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking in Abuja on Monday, Ezeh said the recent “Day of Obidient Service” held on July 19 to mark Obi’s 64th birthday was more than a celebration—it was a strong signal that Nigerians are yearning for a new kind of leadership built on integrity and selfless service.

He praised the women and youths who drove the event, calling their efforts a powerful show of commitment to Obi’s vision for a better Nigeria.

Ezeh urged opposition parties, especially the African Democratic Congress (ADC), to unite behind Obi, drawing a comparison between Obi’s growing popularity and the rise of the APC in 2015 that brought the late Muhammadu Buhari to power.

He warned that there are signs of desperation from political opponents who feel threatened by Obi’s momentum. He cited recent comments from Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State and earlier remarks by Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue as indicators of a wider plan to weaken Obi’s chances.

“There are plans to shrink the campaign stage,” Ezeh said. “But Nigerians are watching. Anyone who thinks getting Obi out of the race will protect the existing structure of corruption is in for a rude shock.”

He also dismissed the idea of courts deciding election outcomes in 2027, urging that in any electoral tie, reruns should be held rather than allowing judicial intervention to determine leaders.
