Dr. Nonye Soludo, wife of the Anambra State Governor, has received a merit award from the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) for her contributions to public health and wellness in the state.
The award was presented during the 2025 Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference of the NMA’s Anambra State chapter, held in Awka.
Dr. Soludo, founder of the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative, was recognized for her efforts in promoting healthy lifestyles, maternal and child health, women’s empowerment, and child rights protection. The NMA praised her work for reaching thousands across the state with messages on nutrition, wellness, and practical health tips.
She was notably the only woman honoured at the event, a distinction the association said reflects her unique impact over the last three years.
Receiving the award on her behalf, Anambra State Health Commissioner and initiative coordinator, Dr. Afam Obidike, said the honour is a strong motivation for the First Lady to keep pushing for better health outcomes in the state. Obidike, who also received an award at the event, thanked the NMA for recognizing the First Lady’s transformative health campaigns.
