According to the former lawmaker, the outcome of the 2023 presidential election should not be used as the basis for predicting what will happen in 2027.

Tinubu won the 2023 presidential election with 36.61 per cent of the total votes cast, while Jibrin said the political circumstances surrounding that election were different from those expected in 2027.

He argued that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has since studied the opposition parties and their leading figures and has developed plans for dealing with the challenges they may present during the next presidential contest.

Jibrin said the ruling party is aware of the political strength and strategies of its major opponents and has been preparing for the election based on its assessment of the opposition.

He also said the APC believes it is considerably ahead of the opposition as preparations for the 2027 election continue.

While declining to disclose details of what he described as the party’s strategy, Jibrin expressed confidence that the APC would achieve a wide victory for Tinubu in the presidential election.

He further called for efforts to prevent disagreements and internal conflicts within the ruling party, saying unnecessary disputes could affect its preparations for the election.

Jibrin’s projection comes as political parties and major political figures intensify preparations for the 2027 general election, with alliances, defections and campaigns increasingly shaping the political landscape across the country.

His 65 per cent forecast remains his personal political projection and is not an official election result or an independent forecast. The actual outcome of the 2027 presidential election will depend on the votes cast and officially declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
