Veteran journalist and former Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Ima Niboro, has joined President Bola Tinubu’s campaign team ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Niboro, who previously served as spokesperson to former President Goodluck Jonathan, has been appointed as one of the spokespersons of Tinubu’s campaign council.
His appointment brings experience in presidential communication and media management to the campaign structure, having worked closely with a former Nigerian president and later led NAN.
As NAN managing director, Niboro oversaw the agency’s news-gathering operations across the country as well as its international activities.

His inclusion comes as the campaign team strengthens its communication structure ahead of the 2027 general election.
The communications team is led by Dele Alake, Minister of Solid Minerals Development, with Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, serving as co-chairman.
Other members include Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy; Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President and former Minister of Youth and Sports Development; Tunde Rahman, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Special Duties; and Felix Morka, National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The team brings together journalists, government media officials and political strategists with experience in traditional and digital communication.
Niboro’s appointment adds another experienced media professional to the campaign structure, particularly given his previous role in presidential communication and leadership of a national news agency.
The communications team is expected to present the Tinubu administration’s policies and reforms to voters while communicating the next phase of the Renewed Hope Agenda as the President seeks another term in office.
