Controversy has surrounded the visit of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu to Anambra State after the state Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Emma Anosike, complained that the party was not consulted over the planned visit.

Anosike expressed surprise that Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of President Bola Tinubu and the APC’s presidential candidate, would visit the state without the involvement of the party leadership in Anambra.

He said the state chapter was not informed about the arrangements for the visit and therefore had no role in organising the reception for the First Lady.
The APC chairman also questioned the claim by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)-led government in Anambra that progressive political forces were working together.

According to Anosike, the state government did not engage the APC in discussions over the organisation of the First Lady’s visit, raising questions about the extent of cooperation between the two political parties.
He further accused the APGA-led administration of attempting to take control of President Tinubu’s re-election efforts in Anambra by sidelining the APC, which is the president’s political platform.
Despite the disagreement over the arrangements, Anosike said the controversy would not stop party members from receiving the First Lady.
He urged APC members and supporters across the state to come out and welcome Oluremi Tinubu during her visit.
