JUST IN: PDP Chieftain Passes Away

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dan Orbih, has died at the age of 72.

Orbih reportedly passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026. His family announced his death in a statement signed by Francis Udukhomoi Orbih on behalf of the Orbih family.

The family said the death came with deep sadness, while noting that relatives were accepting the loss as part of God’s will. They asked friends, associates and well-wishers to keep the family in their prayers as they mourn the veteran politician.

Orbih was a prominent figure within the PDP and was known for his involvement in the party’s activities and political affairs. He was also regarded as an ally of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The late politician is survived by his wife, Florence Orbih, and his children, Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr Mildred Omonemi Orbih. He is also survived by his siblings and other members of his extended family.

The family said details concerning his burial and funeral arrangements would be made public at a later date. His death is expected to trigger reactions from political associates, party members and other figures who worked with him during his years in public and political life.
