Suspected bandits have attacked another community in Kano State, killing at least one person and reportedly abducting the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rogo Local Government Area (LGA), Alhaji Audu Fanka Salisu Yahaya.

The incident occurred in Beli village, Rogo LGA, in the early hours of Tuesday, September 1, 2026, as armed men reportedly invaded the community and opened fire.

A source familiar with the incident said the attackers arrived at about 1 a.m. and headed directly to Yahaya’s residence. The gunmen were said to have forced their way into the house, brought the APC chairman out and took him away.
The source added that the attackers fired repeatedly as they left the community. A young resident, believed to be under 25 years old, was reportedly shot during the attack and died at the scene.
Other residents were also said to have sustained gunshot injuries during the incident, although the exact number of injured persons could not immediately be confirmed.
Yahaya is reportedly a close associate of the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Jibril Ismail Falgore, who hails from Rogo Local Government Area.
The attack has generated concern among residents, with several posts circulating on Facebook calling on security agencies and the government to intervene and protect communities in the area.

The latest incident comes amid a series of attacks reported in parts of Kano State within the past three days.
On Sunday, suspected bandits reportedly invaded Chiromawa community in Garin Malam Local Government Area, where three people were allegedly killed and an elderly man abducted. The abducted resident was later reported to have escaped from his captors.
The attackers reportedly returned on Monday night, targeting Rantan community in Bebeji Local Government Area. Two people were said to have been killed in that attack.
The reported incident in Beli has therefore raised fresh fears among residents as communities in different parts of the state continue to face attacks attributed to suspected bandits.
The repeated incidents have also increased pressure on security authorities to strengthen their presence in affected communities and prevent further attacks.
As of the time of filing the report, security agencies had not issued an official statement confirming the attack, the reported abduction of the APC chairman or the casualty figures.
The whereabouts of Yahaya also remained unknown, while residents continued to await intervention from the relevant security authorities.
