Sowore questioned the governor’s decision in a post on his official X account on Monday, August 17, 2026, particularly in view of the deaths and violence reported before and during the Osun governorship election.

The activist alleged that nearly 50 people lost their lives in election-related violence and questioned why the circumstances surrounding the deaths had not received adequate attention.

Sowore also challenged Adeleke’s decision to support Tinubu, suggesting that the governor’s endorsement was influenced by their shared Yoruba identity.

He argued that Adeleke should first address the deaths recorded during the election period rather than quickly turning his attention to the 2027 presidential contest.

The AAC candidate also demanded answers over the reported violence, asking who was responsible for the deaths and whether anyone was being investigated or held accountable.

He questioned who ordered or enabled the alleged attacks and asked what justice would be provided to the families of those who lost their relatives.

Sowore’s criticism came less than two days after Adeleke defeated the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, in the Osun governorship election to secure another four-year term.

Following his victory, Adeleke reaffirmed his support for Tinubu and said he would back the President’s bid for re-election in 2027.

The governor had also praised Tinubu for what he described as his support for a free and fair election in Osun.

Sowore’s comments add to the growing criticism of Adeleke’s endorsement, with some political figures questioning the decision and urging the governor to allow Osun voters to independently determine their choice in the 2027 presidential election.
