Osun Guber: APC Considers Legal Action After Adeleke’s Victory

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is reviewing the results of the 2026 governorship election across the state’s 332 wards before deciding whether to challenge the outcome in court.

The party disclosed this on Sunday in a statement issued by its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, following the declaration of the election results by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The APC said its leadership was examining the results and other aspects of the electoral process to determine whether there were grounds for seeking legal redress under the Constitution and the Electoral Act.

According to the party, its review will cover the results from individual wards and other stages of the election before a final decision is made on the next steps.

The APC said the declaration of the results does not necessarily mark the end of the electoral process, noting that parties dissatisfied with aspects of an election have legal channels through which they can seek redress.

The party pointed to the available judicial stages, including the election tribunal, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court, as part of the constitutional process for resolving disputes arising from elections.

It maintained that alleged irregularities or other concerns identified during the election could be addressed through the legal procedures provided by law.

The party said it would consult its legal team before determining whether to file a petition or pursue any other action permitted under the Electoral Act 2026.

The APC also thanked its members and supporters for their efforts during the election, saying their participation had taken the party to an important point in its political activities in Osun State.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing its concerns through lawful means and urged its supporters to remain calm while the leadership reviews the election results.

It also appealed to the Nigeria Police Force to protect its members, alleging that some APC supporters had been subjected to harassment by supporters of the ruling party.

The APC called on its members to avoid confrontations and provocative actions while awaiting the outcome of the party’s review and consultation with its lawyers.

It said the present political situation would eventually pass and expressed confidence that any grievances arising from the election would be addressed through the appropriate legal process.
