The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has accused members and supporters of the Accord Party of circulating unverified election results allegedly generated using artificial intelligence.

The allegation was contained in a statement issued on Saturday by the Osun APC spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, amid the ongoing collation of results from the governorship election.

Olabisi warned members of the public against relying on election figures from unofficial sources, insisting that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) remains the only body legally authorised to conduct the election and announce its results.

The APC spokesman said the circulation of unofficial figures could mislead voters and create tension in the state, particularly at a time when the official collation of results was still ongoing.
He accused supporters of the Accord Party of deliberately using what he described as false election results to create confusion and influence public opinion about the outcome of the poll.
According to him, the alleged circulation of fabricated results appeared to be part of a coordinated effort by political actors to cause unrest after the election.

Olabisi called on security agencies, particularly the police, to investigate the alleged publication of false results on social media and take action against anyone found responsible.
The APC also called on its members and supporters to remain calm and avoid being distracted by reports that had not been verified by INEC.
The party further blamed Governor Ademola Adeleke for any crisis that might arise from what it described as attempts to manipulate public perception of the election results.
The APC alleged that some Accord Party politicians were using artificial intelligence tools to create and distribute misleading election figures in an attempt to trigger a political crisis in the state.
It urged its supporters to continue with their normal activities peacefully and avoid confrontations over unofficial election results.
The party maintained that only figures released through the official electoral process should be accepted as the outcome of the election.
The Accord Party has been contacted for a response to the allegations but had yet to comment at the time of filing the report.
