Osun Election: Adeleke Wins 19 LGs, Oyebamiji Takes 11

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party has won 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas in the governorship election, while the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, secured victory in 11 LGAs.

The results from the 30 local government areas were announced during the ongoing collation of results across the state. Adeleke is awaiting the final declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to determine the overall winner of the election.

The governor recorded strong performances in several areas, including Ede South, Ede North, Osogbo, Ife Central, Ife East, Ife North, Ilesa West, Iwo, Egbedore and Odo Otin.

Oyebamiji, however, won in areas including Ilesa East, Boripe, Irepodun, Obokun, Atakumosa West, Irewole, Atakumosa East, Isokan, Olaoluwa, Ife South and Olorunda.

In Boluwaduro, Adeleke polled 7,118 votes against Oyebamiji’s 7,050, while the ADC candidate recorded 179 votes.

Adeleke secured 26,188 votes in Ede South, defeating Oyebamiji, who scored 6,219 votes. In Ife North, the Accord candidate also led with 13,879 votes against the APC’s 9,613.

At Ilesa West, Adeleke obtained 16,196 votes, while Oyebamiji received 12,756 votes. The governor also won Ifedayo with 7,427 votes against the APC candidate’s 6,836.

Oyebamiji recorded a major victory in Ilesa East, where he polled 16,208 votes compared with Adeleke’s 12,280. The APC candidate also won Boripe with 19,963 votes against Adeleke’s 12,448.

In Ife Central, Adeleke secured 21,171 votes, defeating Oyebamiji, who received 15,913 votes. The governor also won Osogbo with 36,480 votes against the APC’s 30,474.

Oyebamiji won Irepodun with 15,713 votes, narrowly defeating Adeleke, who scored 14,504. He also took Obokun with 16,120 votes against the governor’s 12,023.

Adeleke recorded another victory in Orolu, polling 12,352 votes against Oyebamiji’s 10,622. He also won Oriade with 21,343 votes to the APC candidate’s 14,863.

In Odo Otin, Adeleke scored 18,003 votes while Oyebamiji recorded 15,435. The governor also won Ife East with 27,201 votes against 18,600 for the APC candidate.

Oyebamiji secured Atakumosa West with 10,037 votes, while Adeleke scored 7,479. In Iwo, however, Adeleke won decisively with 27,085 votes against Oyebamiji’s 19,660.

Ede North, another stronghold of the governor, gave Adeleke 35,427 votes, while Oyebamiji received 10,283 votes.

Adeleke also won Ila with 16,211 votes against the APC’s 12,934 and Ayedire with 11,073 votes against 9,910.

Oyebamiji secured Irewole with 29,972 votes, defeating Adeleke, who polled 10,934. He also won Atakumosa East with 9,936 votes against the governor’s 7,872.

In Egbedore, Adeleke recorded 19,278 votes against Oyebamiji’s 11,194. He also won Ayedaade with 16,681 votes to the APC candidate’s 15,719.

The contest was close in Isokan, where Oyebamiji polled 14,063 votes against Adeleke’s 13,765. The APC candidate also won Olaoluwa with 10,782 votes against Adeleke’s 10,063.

Oyebamiji secured Ife South with 14,678 votes, while Adeleke recorded 13,507. In Ejigbo, however, Adeleke won with 18,458 votes against the APC’s 16,195.

The final local government result saw Oyebamiji take Olorunda with 24,671 votes, narrowly defeating Adeleke, who scored 23,514.

With all 30 local government results accounted for in the supplied results, Adeleke leads the LGA count 19-11. The official winner, however, is to be declared by INEC after the completion of the formal collation process.
