Adeleke’s Campaign Spokesman Threatens ₦10bn Suit Against Fadahunsi

Pelumi Olajengbesi, a spokesman for Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election campaign, has threatened legal action against Senator Francis Fadahunsi over statements he described as defamatory and damaging to his reputation.

Olajengbesi, through his lawyer, Hammed Lasisi, issued a letter dated August 12, 2026, demanding that the Osun East senator retract the statements and issue a public apology within 24 hours.

The letter was based on comments allegedly made by Fadahunsi during television interviews on Viable TV on July 2 and Channels Television’s Politics Today on August 11.

According to the lawyer, Fadahunsi had questioned Olajengbesi’s origin and accused him of using thugs and members of the Eiye and Aye groups in his political activities.

The lawyer also referred to comments allegedly made by the senator during the August 11 television interview in connection with the late Ajayi Aderogba, popularly known as Rogba. The statement, according to the letter, linked Olajengbesi to the alleged activities of members of the two groups.

Olajengbesi rejected the allegations, describing them as false and harmful to his reputation as a lawyer, public figure and political actor.

He said he had never sponsored, financed, supported or provided resources to any cult group or its members for political or criminal activities. He also denied authorising anyone to intimidate, attack or terrorise members of the public on his behalf.

The campaign spokesman is demanding that Fadahunsi withdraw the allegations through the same media channels and social media platforms where they were circulated.

He is also seeking an unreserved public apology through national media and social media platforms.

The lawyer warned that failure to meet the demands within 24 hours would lead to legal action against the senator.

According to the letter, the proposed suit would seek ₦10 billion in general and aggravated damages for alleged defamation and injurious falsehood.

The threat of legal action comes amid heightened political tension in Osun State ahead of the August 15 governorship election, with politicians and supporters of the major parties exchanging allegations over violence, intimidation and the activities of suspected political thugs.
