The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has ordered the immediate closure of the secretariat of the dissolved Ad-hoc Committee on the Sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT.

The directive was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.

According to the statement, Wike also approved the creation of a new division within the Department of Land Administration to assume responsibilities previously handled by the dissolved committee.

The former Ad-hoc Committee was set up to oversee the sale of Federal Government Houses in the Federal Capital Territory. After completing its main assignment, its secretariat remained operational to handle matters arising from the committee’s activities.

The FCT Administration has now formally ended the operations of both the committee’s secretariat and its activities.
With the closure, members of the public seeking information or assistance regarding the sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT are expected to contact the Department of Land Administration directly.
The administration also warned residents against falling victim to fraudsters who may continue to present themselves as officials, staff or members of the former committee and its secretariat.
The FCT authorities stressed that the committee and its secretariat no longer exist, meaning anyone claiming to represent them should be treated with caution.
The development is part of the FCT Administration’s effort to place the handling of Federal Government Houses under an existing government department following the completion of the former committee’s assignment.
